Gas Data GM25-5

The Gas Data GM25-5 is a dedicated portable analyser for contaminated sites, greenfield and brownfield investigations, and landfill operations. Its fixed configuration with five gas channels provides focused monitoring of methane, carbon dioxide, oxygen, hydrogen sulfide and carbon monoxide. High measurement accuracy and resolution across all channels support robust screening, detailed investigation and ongoing monitoring, helping project teams build an evidence base for risk assessment, landfill gas management and regulatory reporting.

A hydrogen-compensated carbon monoxide channel reduces cross-interference from hydrogen, improving confidence in CO readings in landfill and remediation environments. With calculation support for lower explosive limit percentage, the analyser also contributes to safety-related assessments around gas accumulation in and around boreholes, trenches and infrastructure.

Alongside gas concentrations, the GM25-5 measures atmospheric and static pressure and incorporates integrated flow rate measurement, including bidirectional borehole flow. This combination allows a more complete assessment of how gas behaves within wells, vents and collection systems, indicating whether gas is entering or leaving a borehole and how effectively extraction or control systems are operating.

The analyser is optimised for borehole monitoring, landfill gas extraction and landfill gas control applications. A standard ¼” silicone tube sampling connection supports compatibility with typical industry sampling points, while the supplied sample pipe of around 1 m with an integrated dust trap filter helps protect sensors from particulates and maintain stable performance. Maximum input pressure and pump flow characteristics are selected to support consistent sampling in typical site investigation scenarios.

The Gas Data GM25-5 has a compact footprint and lightweight construction of around 1 kg, making it easy to hold and operate in one hand during extended walkover surveys or multi-well rounds. This helps reduce operator fatigue, particularly when working across large landfill cells or extensive brownfield sites.

A robust housing, typically black ABS, and an IP65 ingress protection rating provide resistance to dust and water spray, supporting use on exposed landfill tops, muddy remediation areas and in changeable weather. Optional neoprene or leather weather-proof carry cases add further protection and make it easier to keep the analyser accessible yet shielded from the elements.

The GM25-5 is battery-powered with a user-swappable battery pack, enabling continuous use across full work shifts with minimal disruption. Typical battery life of 8–12 hours supports a full day of survey work, while a recharge time of about 4 hours helps return the instrument to service quickly between deployments. Because the battery pack is user-swappable, additional batteries can be held on site to avoid lost monitoring time.

The supplied charger is configured to match the customer’s mains power requirements, simplifying deployment across different regions without the need for additional power adaptors or converters.

The instrument is designed for simple, user-friendly operation, so that each work step is as straightforward as possible while still delivering comprehensive data. A high-contrast LCD display provides clear visibility of measurements in low light, bright sunlight and variable weather typical of outdoor and landfill environments.

Clear indication of calibration due dates on both the calibration certificate and the instrument home screen supports structured maintenance schedules and traceable records for audits. Recommended 12‑month service intervals, with associated calibration services, help maintain measurement integrity over the instrument’s life.

Onboard data logging allows the GM25-5 to store measurement results for later review, quality checks and reporting. A USB connection enables straightforward download to a PC, where Instrument Connect or equivalent software can generate CSV reports and manage sample point labels for organised datasets.

Compatibility with the DataField GM25 Connect mobile app adds further flexibility. The app enables remote control of the analyser via smartphone or tablet and allows configuration of how and when readings are taken to match site procedures or regulatory protocols. When internet access is available, live data can be streamed from the app to a web-based portal, giving off-site stakeholders real-time visibility of gas trends without needing to attend the site.

Remote access and hierarchical data storage with customisable labels help keep multi-site and multi-borehole programmes organised, ensuring that large datasets remain accessible and easy to interpret across projects and stakeholders.

Annual service and calibration support is available to align with the recommended 12‑month service interval, with options for part replacement. Servicing is typically completed within 10–15 working days and may include collection and reshipment, while rental or loan units can be arranged to maintain project continuity during maintenance windows.

The Gas Data GM25-5 is supplied as a ready-to-go site kit, including the instrument, sample pipe, charger, spares pot, Allen key and USB drive with manual to support rapid deployment. Optional accessories such as a vane anemometer for gas velocity measurement and a brass probe for gas temperature extend the analyser’s usefulness in specialised surveys. Protective carry case options further adapt the platform for harsh or exposed locations.

The analyser is available for purchase or rental/hire and is typically built to order with lead times between 2 and 14 weeks.
