Overview of Crowcon DuoIQ

Compact dual-gas protection that reduces device burden

Crowcon DuoIQ is designed to simplify personal gas monitoring by bringing two gas measurements into a single compact detector. Its ultra-portable form factor and low weight support all-day wear on a belt, harness or armband using Klick Fast mounting options. By replacing multiple single-gas instruments or larger multi-gas units, DuoIQ reduces the overall equipment footprint without compromising protection against toxic, flammable and oxygen-related hazards in dynamic, high-risk environments.

The detector can operate as a fully featured DuoIQ dual-gas monitor or be configured to function as a UnoIQ single-gas detector. This dual-use capability allows standardisation on one platform across roles and tasks, simplifying training, spares and deployment strategies.

Flexible sensing platform with modular sensor trays

DuoIQ supports a wide range of toxic, flammable and oxygen gas pairings via its modular sensor tray system. Standard and deep tray options accommodate electrochemical, infrared (IR), Molecular Property Spectrometer (MPS™), pellistor, PID and long-life oxygen sensors, so each detector can be aligned to the specific risks of an area or process. Fine measurement resolutions and very fast sensor response times (T90 typically under 10 seconds, sensor dependent) support early warning and accurate tracking of gas levels.

Pre-calibrated, plug-and-play sensor trays can be swapped in seconds, avoiding the need to return instruments to the manufacturer for sensor changes. This modular approach enables rapid reconfiguration between tasks or campaigns and helps reduce the spare inventory required to cover different gas combinations across a fleet.

Field-ready construction for harsh industrial conditions

Crowcon DuoIQ combines a tough housing with high ingress protection ratings (IP66 and IP68) to resist dust, water and everyday contamination. Successful drop testing to 6 metres demonstrates its suitability for demanding applications such as oil and gas, chemical processing, utilities and confined space entry, where knocks and drops are common.

A wide operating temperature range and broad humidity tolerance support reliable performance in both hot and cold climates, as well as variable indoor and outdoor conditions. A backlit segment display aids readability in low light or confined spaces, while loud audible alarms, bright visual LEDs and vibration alerts help ensure that warnings are recognised, even in noisy environments. A diffusion-based sensing design with zero active sampling removes pump-related mechanical complexity and associated maintenance.

Longest-in-class runtime with fast recharging

Battery performance is a core strength of DuoIQ. The rechargeable battery delivers up to around 60 days of continuous runtime for toxic and oxygen configurations, equivalent to approximately six months of typical 8-hour shift use. Defined runtimes are available for configurations that include IR, MPS or pellistor sensors, allowing appropriate trade-offs between gas coverage and battery life for specific applications.

Despite this extended runtime, recharge times remain short. DuoIQ typically charges from 0–80% in around 2 hours, with a full charge achieved in under 3–4 hours depending on the power source. Charging options include USB-A, USB-C and the IQhub docking and charging platform, supporting flexible approaches from individual charging in vehicles to centralised rack-based charging in workshops.

Efficient operation, testing and maintenance

DuoIQ is engineered to minimise the time and expertise required for routine operation. Simple one-button or single-key operation covers major functions, reducing training demands for permanent and rotating staff. Automatic bump testing in under 10 seconds and automatic calibration in under 30 seconds via IQhub shorten routine test cycles and support consistent compliance across fleets.

Optional manual bump testing and calibration are available directly on the detector and through PC software where IQhub infrastructure is not present. Extensive data logging capacity (typically around 500 events or more on some variants) supports post-incident analysis, exposure review and audit trails. Support for low and high alarms, along with TWA and STEL thresholds, enables configuration in line with site exposure limits and regulatory requirements.

Connected safety and fleet-wide oversight

Integrated Bluetooth® and NFC interfaces enable wireless data transfer between DuoIQ, IQhub and the Crowcon Connect cloud platform. Once connected, data from individual detectors can be aggregated to provide real-time visibility of alarms, device status and usage across sites and regions. This supports connected safety strategies that extend beyond the individual worker.

Crowcon Connect provides compliance dashboards, storage and retrieval of digital calibration certificates, and streamlined reporting to simplify audits. Centralised asset management allows configuration management, event log review and reporting from a single interface, while back-end analytics support trend analysis and proactive safety improvements. Cloud-based tools can support device location tracking (where configured) to improve worker visibility and asset recovery, and remote configuration with over-the-air updates enables changes to alarm set points and operational parameters without recalling detectors.

Platform standardisation and global deployment

Crowcon DuoIQ carries hazardous area and wireless approvals appropriate for use in explosive atmospheres, with ingress protection and certifications independently tested. This underpins its suitability for global projects and multi-region rollouts. As part of the Crowcon IQ range, DuoIQ aligns naturally with UnoIQ and DetectiveIQ devices, allowing standardised gas monitoring strategies from personal protection through to area monitoring.

A 2-year standard instrument warranty reflects confidence in durability and long-term reliability. Combined with an accessory ecosystem that includes IQhub docking platforms, charging cables and multiple Klick Fast mounting options, DuoIQ supports deployment across varied tasks and locations using a single, consistent detector platform.
