Honeywell Touchpoint Pro

Honeywell Touchpoint Pro is based on a modular building-block concept, enabling gas control systems to be configured around the plant rather than the plant around the system. It supports centralised, distributed I/O and hybrid topologies, so controllers and field interfaces can be located where they best fit the process and cable infrastructure.

The platform scales from compact installations to large, fully integrated gas and logic safety systems. Plug-in input and output modules can be freely mixed within any enclosure, handling analogue 4–20 mA, mV-bridge and digital inputs alongside relay outputs for alarms and shutdown devices. As requirements change, additional modules and enclosures can be added without major redesign, protecting the original engineering investment and supporting phased expansion.

Touchpoint Pro is engineered to reduce engineering hours, panel build time and installation complexity. Standardised building blocks for controllers, I/O, power supplies and communication/power rails minimise custom wiring and help create repeatable panel designs across multiple units and sites. Power distribution and communications via a common backplane streamline internal wiring and make future modifications more straightforward.

Multiple mounting and enclosure options, including 19″ rack, wall-mount cabinets, stainless steel Div.2/Zone 2 units and floor-standing cabinets, support deployment in both safe and classified areas. Pre-drilled mounting plates, cable entries and tiered terminals provide good access for wiring and maintenance, while options for no, natural or forced ventilation allow the enclosure configuration to be matched to environmental and thermal constraints.

Power management is designed for robust, continuous service, with options for standard and high-current power supplies, UPS modules and redundancy modules helping to maintain availability in critical applications.

The central controller incorporates a full-colour LCD touchscreen as the primary user interface. Icon-based menus, clear status graphics and logical navigation make configuration and daily operation straightforward for operators and maintenance teams. A simple three-step configuration workflow, supported by a preloaded catalogue of Honeywell gas detectors with default parameters, reduces setup effort and helps avoid configuration errors.

Operators gain at-a-glance visibility of channel status, alarms and system health, with clear indications for active, inhibited and faulted channels. This supports faster decision-making during both routine monitoring and abnormal conditions, helping to avoid unnecessary process interruptions while maintaining a strong safety margin.

An integrated webserver provides round-the-clock visibility of system status when the controller is connected to the site network. Via a standard web browser on PCs, tablets or smartphones, authorised users can view live readings, alarm states and event history from remote locations, improving situational awareness for teams responsible for multiple areas or facilities.

Within defined safety constraints, remote users can acknowledge, reset or inhibit channels, improving responsiveness to alarms and maintenance activities. At the same time, critical safety functions such as configuration and calibration remain protected from remote change, helping to preserve system integrity and compliance with site management of change procedures.

Touchpoint Pro delivers both gas monitoring and logic safety control on a single platform, enabling complete safety loops without separate logic solvers. Relay output modules drive audible and visual alarms, actuators and other shutdown devices directly, supporting automated shutdowns and interlocks in response to gas hazards or system conditions.

Redundant control centre board options, combined with flexible power configurations, enhance system availability and resilience. Continuous monitoring of gas status and system health supports proactive maintenance and helps reduce the likelihood of unplanned shutdowns. Event history logging and downloadable data provide traceability for incident investigation and performance trending, informing future setpoint tuning and maintenance planning.

Honeywell Touchpoint Pro is intended for continuous industrial operation, indoors and outdoors, across sectors such as energy, upstream oil and gas, pharmaceutical manufacturing, water and wastewater treatment and distilleries. Multiple enclosure materials and ratings, including stainless steel variants, support use in corrosive or classified environments where gas detection and safety shutdown are critical.

The system supports both full-featured central controllers with HMI and remote units without local displays, enabling distributed architectures that keep I/O close to the field while maintaining central supervisory control. Optional Modbus interface boards allow integration with higher-level management or control systems for site-wide visibility and coordination.
