Toxic and oxygen versions use electrochemical sensors, including Surecell™ technology, for key toxic gases and oxygen deficiency or enrichment monitoring.

A remote flammable detector configuration allows the sensing head to be mounted up to 30 m (100 ft) from the transmitter. This suits high or low level detection points, concealed locations, external ducting or areas with elevated temperatures, while the transmitter remains in a convenient, accessible position. The result is improved usability and safer access for personnel without compromising coverage at the true point of risk.

Sensepoint XCD is designed to minimise installation time and integration effort. Detectors are supplied pre-configured, and removable plug/socket terminal blocks, an integral mounting plate and versatile brackets support surface, horizontal pipe or vertical pipe mounting. Certified cable or conduit entries are provided to align with regional installation practices.

The detector offers a standard 4–20 mA analogue output with selectable sink or source operation for compatibility with a wide range of control systems. RS485 MODBUS RTU provides remote diagnostics, configuration and multidrop architectures, helping reduce cabling in larger plants. Two programmable alarm relays plus a programmable fault relay support local alarms, shutdown functions and interlocks as required by site safety philosophy.

The tri-colour backlit LCD provides immediate visual feedback on detector status using numerical values, a bar graph and intuitive icons. A green backlight indicates normal operation, flashing yellow denotes a fault condition and flashing red signals an alarm. The display remains readable from distance and in low-light conditions, supporting quick situational awareness for operators and maintenance teams.

Through the local interface, parameters such as scale, range, relay operation, alarm set points and electronic tag numbers can be adjusted. This configurability supports structured asset management, especially on larger sites where field device tagging, consistent alarm settings and clear documentation are critical for ongoing compliance and maintenance planning.

A wide range of Honeywell accessories extends the application flexibility of Sensepoint XCD and reduces the need for multiple detector types. Calibration cups, collecting cones, duct mounting kits, sunshade and deluge protection, and various junction boxes support installation in ducts, exposed outdoor locations and high or low mounting points. Design features and accessory options also support applications with lighter-than-air gases and high-temperature sensing points when combined with the remote flammable sensor configuration.

A weatherproof cap is included for additional protection in harsh outdoor environments, helping maintain detector performance in rain, dust and washdown conditions.
