Description

Honeywell BW Intellidox is an automated docking system for Honeywell BW portable gas detectors, accelerating testing and centralised fleet compliance.

Honeywell BW Intellidox is an automated instrument management system for Honeywell BW portable gas detectors. It combines smart docking modules with centralised software to automate bump testing, calibration, configuration and data handling. Place-and-go operation, FastBump capability and gangable modules help minimise queues, reduce calibration gas use and keep large fleets test-ready. Integrated data transfer and reporting support clear audit trails, while flexible mounting and connectivity options suit busy industrial environments where reliable gas monitoring and demonstrable compliance are critical.

AT A GLANCE

  • Automated fleet maintenance: Streamlines bump tests, calibration and configuration for a wide range of Honeywell BW portable gas detectors.
  • High-throughput, scalable docking: Gangable modules with independent LCDs and pumps process multiple instruments quickly for busy sites and growing fleets.
  • Connected data and reporting: Integrates with Fleet Manager II and Honeywell Safety Suite for centralised records, analysis and compliance tracking.
  • Fast, simple operation: Place-and-go workflows and colour-coded pass/fail indicators reduce training needs, errors and calibration gas consumption.

Overview of Honeywell BW Intellidox

Automated fleet management for Honeywell BW detectors

Honeywell BW Intellidox is designed to remove manual effort from day-to-day portable gas detector maintenance. Workers insert a compatible detector and the module automatically runs the pre-configured workflow, from FastBump checks to full calibrations using the appropriate calibration gas and regulator. This place-and-go approach standardises procedures across shifts and locations, reduces time at the test station and helps ensure that detectors remain correctly configured and test-ready throughout their service life.

The system supports a broad range of Honeywell BW instruments, including Solo, Ultra, MaxXTII, MicroClip series, Clip series, Clip4, Flex and Icon series. Dedicated nests matched to specific detector models help ensure a secure fit and consistent gas delivery during tests, supporting reliable, repeatable performance.

Fast testing, reduced gas use and fewer bottlenecks

Intellidox is engineered to increase throughput while controlling consumable costs. Its FastBump capability can bump test a BW Clip in about 10 seconds and handle up to five detectors in under a minute, significantly reducing queues for daily checks. Efficient purge cycles limit the volume of calibration gas used per test, helping reduce gas cylinder consumption and associated waste over the life of the docking system.

Each module includes an independent pump to deliver consistent flow to the detector nest. Up to five modules can be ganged together to share power, network connectivity and calibration gas, allowing multiple detectors to be processed in parallel. This combination of speed, parallel operation and reduced gas use supports higher productivity and more predictable maintenance planning on busy industrial sites.

Scalable, flexible modules for mixed fleets

Each Honeywell BW Intellidox module is a compact, robust docking unit with its own LCD display and keypad, allowing fully independent operation. Modules can be configured to perform different tasks or schedules for different detector types at the same time, making it easier to manage mixed fleets and differing plant requirements from a single platform.

The solution is highly scalable. Sites can start with a single module and nest, then expand to support larger fleets simply by adding further nests and modules. An IntelliDoX Enabler Kit is required per docking system or gang of up to five modules, providing power supply, Ethernet cable, calibration and purge gas tubing, quick-connect fittings, filters and connectors to simplify installation and expansion. Suitable calibration gas cylinders and regulators are specified and supplied separately.

Simple visual workflows for frontline users

Frontline operation is intentionally straightforward. Colour-coded indicators on each module’s LCD show yellow for tests in progress, green for pass and red for fail, providing immediate feedback without complex menus. This clear, local status display helps reduce user error and shortens the training required for contractors and rotating crews.

Quick, tool-free setup in around two minutes allows the system to be deployed where it best supports existing workflows, from workshops and maintenance rooms to site offices. An integrated retractable stand and wall-mount capability provide additional flexibility in confined or high-traffic areas.

Centralised configuration and lifecycle control

Beyond routine testing, Honeywell BW Intellidox supports full lifecycle configuration management for compatible detectors. Alarm high and low set points, along with other operating parameters and display options such as gas reading visibility during alarms and time display formats, can be updated via the docking modules throughout the detector’s life. This enables consistent application of site policies and facilitates rapid reconfiguration when instruments move between plants, projects or regulatory regimes.

The system allows scheduling of bump test and calibration reminders and supports non-compliance indicators on the detectors when checks are overdue. This structured approach to reminders and visual non-compliance cues helps maintain testing discipline across large fleets and multiple shifts, supporting continuous improvement of gas detection programmes.

Data capture, analysis and compliance reporting

Intellidox automatically transfers event logs and gas exposure data from docked detectors, creating a detailed record of bump tests, calibration results, peak exposures and other relevant gas-detection information. This data supports in-depth analysis of detector performance and usage patterns, as well as robust audit trails for internal reviews and external inspections.

When paired with Fleet Manager II and/or Honeywell Safety Suite software, this information can be aggregated to provide fleet-wide reporting, performance trends and exposure histories. Supervisors can track the status of detectors, identify potential issues early and generate reports to demonstrate compliance. Via the connected software, the system can also send email reminders or notices regarding upcoming tests and compliance issues, helping sites stay ahead of regulatory and corporate requirements.

Connectivity, installation and reliability

Honeywell BW Intellidox can operate as a standalone docking station or as part of a networked system. Ethernet connectivity supports integration into existing site networks for centralised control and data transfer, while USB ports allow offline data collection and configuration using portable media where networking is not available or not desired.

The compact footprint, robust construction and continuous-duty design suit energy, process and other industrial sectors where gas detectors are in constant use. The system is intended to remain powered for consistent readiness, while still offering a long unplugged lifespan when power is temporarily removed. Compliance with relevant EMC and Low Voltage Directive requirements, alongside CE marking, EC Declarations of Conformity and safety approvals such as CSA/UL 61010-1 (3rd Edition), underpins its use in demanding industrial environments.

High data storage capacity and support for high daily throughput make Intellidox suitable for both smaller deployments and large detector fleets. A full two-year warranty on the docking module, together with Quick Reference Guides, operator documentation, software media and firmware packages, provides additional assurance. Overall, Honeywell BW Intellidox helps maximise detector uptime, support on-time project delivery and maintain confidence that portable gas detection programmes are both effective and thoroughly documented.
