Description

RAE Systems MultiRAE Pro is a wireless portable multi-threat detector for gases and gamma radiation in hazardous, mission-critical environments.

RAE Systems MultiRAE Pro is a wireless portable multi-threat detector that combines advanced chemical and gamma radiation monitoring in a single instrument. It simultaneously monitors up to six threats, using intelligent interchangeable sensors to cover VOCs, toxic gases, combustibles, oxygen, CO2, and gamma radiation. With integrated pump, unmistakable local and remote alarms, and real-time wireless connectivity to command systems, it supports faster, better-informed decisions in CBRNE, HazMat, civil defence, industrial, and public sector operations while helping to reduce equipment count and simplify training.

AT A GLANCE

  • Multi-threat coverage in one platform: Simultaneous monitoring of gas hazards and gamma radiation reduces the need for multiple single-purpose detectors.
  • Configurable sensor architecture: Wide choice of intelligent, field-replaceable sensors supports changing missions and simplifies standardisation on a single detector platform.
  • Connected safety and integration: Real-time wireless data and alarm transmission links directly with Honeywell device management, ProRAE Guardian and compatible radio systems.
  • Rugged, hazardous-area ready design: Portable, pump-equipped detector with long runtime options and straightforward maintenance for demanding classified environments.

Overview of RAE Systems MultiRAE Pro

Multi-threat detection in a single, portable platform

The RAE Systems MultiRAE Pro consolidates multi-gas and gamma radiation monitoring into one field-ready instrument. It can track up to six threats at once, including VOCs, toxic gases, combustibles, oxygen, CO2, and gamma radiation, so response teams do not need to manage multiple detectors on scene. An extensive range of intelligent, interchangeable sensors enables precise configuration for CBRNE, HazMat, civil defence, search and rescue, homeland security, military, and industrial applications.

This all-in-one approach reduces equipment footprint, simplifies training, and supports more consistent procedures across teams and shifts, as operators carry a single familiar detector while still capturing the critical data required for decision making.

High-precision VOC and radiation performance

The MultiRAE Pro offers high-precision PID options with ppb and ppm capability for VOC monitoring, supporting both trace detection and higher concentration work with the same platform. This enables early identification of low-level chemical threats as well as response to significant releases, without changing instruments. A broad toxic gas and oxygen sensor portfolio extends coverage across typical industrial chemicals and by-products.

The integrated gamma radiation sensor functions as both detector and dosimeter, providing real-time dose rate and cumulative dose information. This helps incident commanders control responder exposure over time while reacting rapidly to changes in radiation conditions during CBRNE and other high-consequence incidents.

Connected safety and fleet integration

Designed around connected safety principles, the RAE Systems MultiRAE Pro transmits live gas readings, alarms, and device status to central command, safety officers, and compatible communication systems. Typical wireless ranges to mesh modems and access points support flexible deployment around incident perimeters, industrial plants, and complex facilities.

Support for Honeywell device management platforms such as Honeywell Sotera Express / SafetySuite, together with ProRAE Guardian and compatibility with systems including Motorola MOTOTRBO, allows gas and radiation data to be integrated into wider incident management and asset management workflows. Centralised configuration and monitoring help standardise settings, speed deployment, and improve oversight of dispersed fleets.

Unmistakable alarms and Man Down protection

The MultiRAE Pro uses a five-way alarm system to cut through noise and stress on site. Loud audible alarms, bright red LEDs, vibration, clear on-screen indicators, and wireless remote alarm notification ensure both nearby personnel and remote supervisors are alerted when conditions become unsafe.

An integrated Man Down Alarm with pre-alarm and live remote notification adds another layer of protection, triggering response if a worker becomes motionless. This is particularly valuable in confined spaces, unknown atmospheres, and complex rescue scenarios. Visual compliance indicators and on-screen alarm condition displays provide at-a-glance confirmation that the detector is ready for use before entering hazardous areas.

Rugged, hazardous-area ready design

The RAE Systems MultiRAE Pro is engineered for harsh environments found in energy, manufacturing, semiconductor fabrication, environmental monitoring, and public sector facilities, as well as CBRNE and HazMat deployments. A dust- and water-resistant housing with high ingress protection, combined with MIL-STD-810G and 461F testing for shock, vibration, and electromagnetic compatibility, supports reliable operation around heavy equipment and communications infrastructure.

Certification for hazardous locations and explosive atmospheres, together with compliance with explosion-proof, EMC, CE, and applicable radio directives, makes the instrument suitable for classified areas where flammable gases, vapours, or combustible dusts may be present. A wide operating temperature range and humidity tolerance enable year-round indoor and outdoor use.

Built-in pump, compact form factor, and user-focused ergonomics

A built-in sampling pump with long sampling range enables remote and pre-entry testing of confined spaces, trenches, voids, and other hard-to-access locations before personnel are exposed. Despite this capability, the MultiRAE Pro remains compact and relatively lightweight, making it practical to wear or carry through plant rooms, tunnels, and tight process areas.

The large icon-driven monochrome graphical LCD with backlight and automatic screen flip maintains legibility in varied orientations and lighting conditions. A straightforward three-button keypad, designed for gloved use, supports rapid operation under pressure. Icon-based menus, large fonts and a multilingual interface help minimise training time and make the detector approachable for both specialist teams and occasional responders.

Power options and continuous operation

To support long shifts and extended incidents, the MultiRAE Pro offers multiple power options, including standard and extended runtime rechargeable Li-ion packs and an alkaline AA adapter. These options allow organisations to match power configurations to usage patterns, from routine rounds to prolonged emergency deployments.

Charging and communication via desktop cradles, travel chargers, and AutoRAE 2 interfaces provide flexible workflows in control rooms, vehicles, and field locations. Combined with durable construction and multiyear warranties on key sensors and non-consumable components, this helps reduce spares requirements and supports a lower total cost of ownership.

Efficient maintenance, calibration, and configuration

The RAE Systems MultiRAE Pro is designed to minimise downtime and simplify fleet maintenance. Intelligent plug-and-play sensors, pump, and batteries can be replaced quickly without complex tools. Because sensors store their own calibration data, they can typically be swapped in the field without a full recalibration, enabling rapid reconfiguration for new gases, processes, or missions.

Automatic bump testing and calibration via the AutoRAE 2 Test and Calibration System support high-throughput, standardised maintenance for larger fleets, with manual calibration options available where required. This combination helps safety managers maintain compliance while reducing service time and technician call-outs.

Data, compliance, and platform standardisation

Continuous datalogging with configurable intervals captures detailed exposure histories, including real-time concentrations, PID correction factors, STEL, TWA, peak, and minimum values, alongside clear indicators for datalogging, wireless status, and battery level. These records support incident investigations, regulatory reporting, and trend analysis.

ProRAE Studio II (or equivalent) PC software assists with instrument setup, configuration, and data management across multiple detectors, while the supplied documentation set streamlines training and audit preparation. The ability to standardise on a single, configurable platform — with monitor-only and full kit packages, wireless and non-wireless variants, and a broad accessory set — helps reduce spares inventory, simplify procedures across sites, and provide a consistent user experience for teams facing evolving threats.
