Overview of Interscan AccuSafe

High-Precision, Continuous Gas Monitoring

Interscan AccuSafe is a fixed-point gas detection platform for facilities that cannot tolerate gaps in monitoring. Its electrochemical sensor technology provides high-precision, low-level detection of toxic and industrial gases, enabling early warning of leaks before they escalate into incidents. Extremely low-level sensitivity supports trace gas sensing for critical safety applications and industrial hygiene programmes where exposure must be tightly controlled.

Each sensor module incorporates an integral sample draw pump, delivering active, continuous sampling for faster and more reliable response. A continuous measuring rate on the sensor units removes blind spots, while configurable measuring rates at the controller allow operators to balance update speed with data storage and network bandwidth. Built-in temperature and relative humidity measurement at every sensor point improves assessment of gas behaviour and supports environmental tracking.

Scalable Multi-Point Architecture

A single AccuSafe controller supports up to ten remote sensor modules, providing a scalable architecture for production areas, storage zones and other high-risk locations. The system is capable of detecting up to 21 different toxic and industrial gases and can monitor up to ten unique gas types simultaneously in single- or multi-point configurations. This enables safety teams to align detection coverage with specific process hazards without adding multiple detector families.

The familiar “point sensor reporting to a controller” layout is straightforward for maintenance and safety personnel to understand and support. Optional integral concentration displays and alarm indicators on individual sensor units allow them to operate as stand-alone gas detectors for single-point applications, while still integrating seamlessly into larger, networked systems where centralised alarm management is required.

Robust Connectivity, Integration and Control

AccuSafe is designed for straightforward connection to modern control and information systems. Modbus TCP/IP and Modbus RTU (RS-485) allow large separation distances between sensors and controller and simplify integration with existing plant networks, SCADA and building management systems. MQTT support extends this connectivity into IIoT and Industry 4.0 environments, while mimic display capability allows additional remote displays to present live status from critical areas around a site.

The controller features a 5″ touch display for configuration, calibration and status viewing. Remote access via a standard web browser on the local network allows authorised users to review live readings, alarm states and controller functions without attending the panel. Desktop applications and local network connectivity with web access support centralised management of multiple AccuSafe controllers from a single interface.

Optional AWS Web Control enables cloud-based monitoring and control, including custom dashboards, data browsing, alarm configuration and routine editing. Concentration and alarm status can be viewed by authorised users on phones, tablets or other networked devices, supporting remote supervision and mimic displays for on-call engineers and offsite teams.

Alarming, Data Logging and Automated Response

AccuSafe combines local alarming, data logging and closed-loop control to support timely and traceable responses to gas hazards. Audible and visual indicators on the controller provide immediate local warning when gas levels exceed preset thresholds. The controller can also issue email and SMS/text notifications, enabling rapid escalation to offsite personnel and improving responsiveness in distributed operations.

Configurable control algorithms, including PID, ON/OFF and open-loop strategies, allow the system to drive external devices such as fans, valves and actuators via Modbus. Facilities can use real-time gas concentration data to trigger ventilation, isolation or process adjustments automatically, reducing reliance on manual intervention and enhancing protection for personnel, equipment and infrastructure.

Integrated data acquisition in each sensor module removes the need for external logging software and reduces system complexity. Large onboard storage enables continuous, real-time logging of exposure history. Numerical readouts and optional graphical trend displays provide clear visibility of current and evolving conditions, while historical data can support industrial hygiene assessments, ventilation optimisation and evidence of compliance with safety regulations and organisational policies.

Rugged Design and Efficient Maintenance

AccuSafe is engineered for demanding industrial environments. Sensor enclosures are powder-coated aluminium rated to IP68, providing robust protection in harsh or washdown locations where resistance to dust and water ingress is critical. The controller is housed in a durable powder-coated aluminium enclosure suitable for clean, dry control room environments, while the system as a whole operates over a broad non-condensing temperature range appropriate for many indoor process applications.

The compact footprint of both controller and sensor modules simplifies installation in crowded panels and tight field locations. Integrated pumps, sensors and data acquisition reduce reliance on external sampling hardware and separate logging systems, helping to contain project costs and panel real estate. Routine maintenance is focused mainly on sensor replacement and basic cleaning, supporting high uptime and predictable service windows.

The Interchange Sensor System (where offered by Interscan) enables tool-free sensor changes in under a minute, without returning equipment for calibration, minimising downtime during maintenance activities. The SensorExpress subscription programme can provide scheduled, just-in-time sensor replacements to help maintain continuous monitoring. Remote firmware updates for controllers and sensor units, together with configuration backup and restore functions, streamline lifecycle management, simplify deployment of standard configurations and speed recovery following hardware replacement.

Accuracy, Compliance and Applications

With accuracy of 5% or better, and some specifications as tight as ±2% of reading ±1 LSD, AccuSafe delivers reliable and repeatable gas concentration measurements that safety managers and engineers can depend on. Early detection and continuous monitoring support alignment with recognised safety regulations and standards, while a standard 1-year warranty and established engineering practices provide additional assurance of quality and robustness.

The system supports fixed gas detection strategies in high-risk or hard-to-access locations where continuous air monitoring is required without human intervention. Its combination of sensing performance, connectivity and rugged construction makes it suitable for a wide range of industries, including chemical manufacturing, oil and gas, pharmaceuticals, healthcare, aerospace, agriculture, mining, wastewater treatment and semiconductor production. Integrated alarms, automated control and detailed data outputs provide a platform that not only detects hazardous gases but also supports exposure analysis, process optimisation and continuous improvement of site safety programmes. Availability of detailed product brochures and sample data outputs further assists engineering and safety teams in evaluating performance and planning integration into new or existing installations.
