GMI PS200

The GMI PS200 provides continuous personal monitoring of up to four gases simultaneously, covering LEL combustible gases, oxygen, carbon monoxide and hydrogen sulphide. It supports single-, dual-, three- and four-gas configurations, allowing standardisation on one detector type while tailoring sensor sets to specific tasks, locations and regulatory requirements. Fast sensor response times and continuous sensor integrity checking help deliver early warning of changing conditions and maintain confidence in day-to-day operation.

This flexibility makes the PS200 suitable for both routine personal protection and formal confined space entry, supporting activities from construction and utilities work to oil and gas, marine and wider industrial maintenance.

The PS200 is available in both pumped and diffusion (non-pumped) versions to match different working practices. Diffusion instruments offer compact, lightweight continuous monitoring, improving wearer comfort over long shifts. Pumped instruments integrate an internal sampling pump and are supplied with sample tubing and a quick connector, enabling pre-entry or remote sampling of confined spaces before personnel enter.

Battery and sensor options allow optimisation between extended runtime and wider gas response. An optional low-power LEL sensor supports runtimes of up to 80 hours in diffusion mode, while pumped instruments deliver up to 20 hours of operation, helping teams complete full shifts and extended entry work without frequent recharging.

The GMI PS200 combines robust construction with low carried weight to support reliable use in tough environments. Its high-impact, rubberised polycarbonate housing is drop-tested to 3 m and rated to IP67, providing dust-tight, water-resistant performance for construction, utilities, oil and gas, marine and similar applications. Optional protective rubber boots, including high-visibility variants, further improve grip and drop protection, with a high-visibility orange boot often included with selected packages.

Despite its durability, the detector remains compact and lightweight at approximately 215–230 g. Simple one-button or two-button controls support quick, intuitive operation even with gloved hands. The large LCD presents all gas readings simultaneously, while the high-contrast green/red backlight provides clear status indication in low light and poor visibility.

The PS200 is designed to ensure alarms are noticed in noisy and visually complex environments. A triple alarm system combines a loud >90 dB audible alarm, high-intensity flashing LEDs and a strong vibrating alarm so warnings remain visible and felt even when the detector is not in direct line of sight. The combination of simultaneous gas display, colour backlighting and multi-sensory alarms supports rapid, appropriate response when hazardous atmospheres are detected.

Extensive datalogging capabilities support more robust safety management and simpler audit preparation. The PS200 records timed logs as well as multiple event, bump and calibration entries, with calibrations and bump tests capable of being logged automatically to show compliance over time. This data can be downloaded and analysed using PS200 Datalogger software and GDCloud, providing clear visibility of detector usage, alarm events and test history.

The detector is compatible with an automatic bump/calibration station that can bump test, calibrate and charge the instrument. This docking approach standardises functional testing across fleets, improves traceability of test records and reduces manual handling. An internal flow plate enables simple, consistent bump testing, and manual bump tests can be initiated at any time when additional assurance is required.

The GMI PS200 carries multiple global hazardous area certifications, with models configured for use in Zone 0/1 and Class I Division 1 environments as detailed in the Approvals tab. Additional regional approvals, including marine-focused certifications, enable deployment across onshore, offshore and marine operations while maintaining a common detector platform. This breadth of approvals supports multinational operators seeking to harmonise safety equipment across regions.

Professional servicing and calibration are available through authorised service centres, with six-monthly service intervals recommended to help maintain accuracy and compliance. Each instrument is supplied with a calibration certificate on delivery, and optional traceable calibration certificates are available where more stringent quality assurance is required. A two-year standard warranty on materials and workmanship supports long-term reliability and predictable ownership costs.

The PS200 is designed for straightforward ownership throughout its lifecycle. Sensors and basic components can be replaced without complex tools, helping to minimise downtime and reduce workshop overheads. Clear quick operation guides and multilingual manuals support rapid onboarding of new personnel and consistent safe use across diverse teams.

Each detector is supplied with key accessories such as a universal PSU/communications cable, USB charging/communications lead and a quick start guide for fast deployment. Pumped versions also include 3 m of sample tubing and a quick connector for remote sampling. Optional traceable calibration services and competitive calibration offers from many distributors further reduce initial and ongoing costs, making it practical to standardise on the GMI PS200 across mixed fleets while tailoring gas configurations to specific applications.
