Bacharach H-10 PRO

The Bacharach H-10 PRO is engineered as a high-sensitivity detector for locating very small refrigerant leaks in HVACR and industrial refrigeration systems. Its heated diode sensor technology delivers ultra-low leak detection capability, allowing maintenance teams to identify issues before they result in excessive refrigerant loss, repeat service visits or damage to critical assets. A response time of approximately one second enables rapid scanning of pipework, joints and coils while still homing in on the precise leak location.

The detector is designed as a universal tool for non-flammable, halogen-based CFC, HFC and HCFC refrigerants, as well as selected advanced and specialty gases including certain HFOs and sulfur hexafluoride (SF₆). This broad compatibility supports service work on chillers, commercial refrigeration systems and general HVACR equipment using both established and emerging refrigerants. By consolidating coverage into a single platform, the Bacharach H-10 PRO helps standardise leak detection practices across diverse installations and evolving refrigerant portfolios, reducing the need for multiple specialised instruments. It is not intended for use with refrigerants classified as flammable.

Refrigerant is often present in the background of plant rooms and mechanical spaces, which can complicate leak detection. The Bacharach H-10 PRO addresses this with automatic and manual background adjustment and an auto-zeroing function in automatic mode, helping the detector distinguish true leaks from ambient concentrations. An internal sensor calibration reference supports consistent performance over time, providing confidence in readings between scheduled maintenance and sensor replacement.

For clear leak indication at the point of inspection, the probe tip incorporates a red LED that flashes incrementally with leak intensity. This is complemented by an internal speaker that emits a distinctive ticker-style tone, which also increases with signal strength. Where noise levels are high, or where quiet operation is required, a headphone jack allows the audible signal to be monitored directly without relying on the built-in speaker.

The Bacharach H-10 PRO combines portable operation with a robust, bench-style housing suitable for shop, plant and field environments. The compact unit is lightweight and supplied with a shoulder strap, making it straightforward to move between plant rooms, rooftop units and confined mechanical spaces. A 4.5 ft (1.37 m) flexible probe allows access around pipework, cabinets and components that would otherwise be difficult to reach, and an optional probe extension further increases reach in congested or enclosed areas.

The instrument includes an internal rechargeable 12 VDC battery that typically supports several hours of operation per charge, enabling uninterrupted leak surveys on site. For extended diagnostics or bench-based tasks, it can also be powered from a 100–240 VAC wall adapter/charger, with regional plug options available. This dual power capability helps maintenance teams deploy the same detector for both mobile troubleshooting and longer-duration checks in workshops or mechanical rooms.

A backlit graphic LCD provides clear visibility of operating status and settings in plant rooms, service corridors and other low-light environments. An approximate two-minute warm-up time prepares the sensor for use at the start of a shift without significant delay. Combined visual and audible alarms, together with quantitative sensitivity indication, help technicians judge the relative size of a leak and prioritise repair actions accordingly.

The instrument is designed for operation within typical HVACR field temperature and humidity conditions. While the sensor is robust, avoiding prolonged exposure to very high refrigerant concentrations helps maintain its expected service life and sustain performance between planned replacements.

The Bacharach H-10 PRO is supplied with spare filters to maintain airflow and protect the sensor, supporting stable, repeatable response. A range of accessories is available, including replacement sensors, probe assemblies, probe tips, chargers, calibration reference bottles and dedicated maintenance kits. Advanced, basic and tune-up maintenance kits provide structured options for keeping the detector in peak condition, supporting planned preventive maintenance rather than reactive intervention.

The instrument is backed by a multi-year warranty, with separate coverage for the rechargeable battery and defined service life expectations for the sensor under typical operating conditions. This combination of high sensitivity, broad refrigerant compatibility, practical accessories and manufacturer support positions the Bacharach H-10 PRO as a long-term leak detection platform for general industry and HVACR service technicians tasked with maintaining refrigerant system integrity.
