Crowcon Gas-Pro

Crowcon Gas-Pro combines up to five-gas monitoring in a single, compact detector so safety teams can cover diverse hazards with one platform. Available in 3, 4 or 5 gas versions, including specialist TK and MED models, it supports a wide selection of sensors for oxygen, toxic, flammable, VOC and CO2 hazards. This flexibility allows organisations to standardise on a common detector family across different sites and tasks, simplifying training, deployment and spares management.

For inerted tanks and tank purging or gas freeing, the Gas-Pro TK variant adds focused capability. Dual infrared sensors measure both % volume and % LEL ranges and auto-range between them, helping personnel interpret readings quickly during critical operations and supporting more informed decisions in tank environments.

Crowcon Gas-Pro is purpose-designed for confined space entry, where consistent testing and rapid interpretation are essential. A dedicated Pre-Entry Check (PEC) mode supports structured, repeatable testing before access, reducing the risk of steps being missed under time pressure. Automatic fail-safe flow plate recognition confirms that the detector is correctly configured for pumped sampling before readings are relied upon.

The detector can operate in diffusion or pumped modes, depending on configuration and task. With the optional internal pump and flow plate, Gas-Pro can sample atmospheres up to 30m away, enabling assessment of shafts, vessels or other inaccessible spaces before anyone approaches the hazard. Clear audible, visual and vibrating alarms then support disciplined go/no-go decisions at the point of entry.

Crowcon Gas-Pro is built for harsh industrial, marine and offshore conditions while remaining comfortable for continuous wear. Its compact 43 x 130 x 84mm footprint and light weight (around 309–362g) suit belt, chest or shoulder mounting using available harness plates and straps. Independently tested resistance to water and dust (IP65 and IP67) supports reliable operation in wet, dirty and washdown environments.

Alarms are engineered for noisy, high-PPE worksites. High-audibility alarms above 95 dB at 30cm (up to 98 dB in loud mode), all-angle dual red/blue LED alarms and a strong vibrating alert help ensure hazardous conditions are noticed quickly from any direction. An operating temperature range from -20°C to +55°C and wide humidity tolerance from 10–95% RH extend its suitability to extreme climates and variable outdoor conditions.

The user interface of Crowcon Gas-Pro is designed to minimise training time and reduce user error. A top-mounted display allows readings to be checked at a glance when the detector is worn on a belt or chest, limiting the need to unclip it in awkward or hazardous locations. The dual-colour backlight (green/red) provides immediate visual confirmation of normal operation or alarm status, even in low light.

Single-button operation keeps day-to-day tasks straightforward, including basic navigation, pre-entry checks, bump tests and quick review of peak or Time Weighted Average (TWA) exposure. Multi-language support further assists global and multilingual workforces, enabling consistent operation across different regions and contract partners.

A lithium-ion rechargeable battery provides more than 14 hours of typical operation from a standard 7.5‑hour charge, supporting full shifts without frequent recharging. In pumped mode, operating time remains around 13 hours, which helps reduce mid-shift detector changes and simplifies fleet rotation. Charging options include mains power, desktop cradles, USB leads and vehicle adapters, so instruments can be maintained in depots, vehicles or temporary work locations.

Extensive logging functions give safety managers detailed evidence for audits and investigations. Data logging captures up to 125 hours of records at 10‑second intervals (around 45,000 logs), while event logging stores up to 1,000 events for alarms, over‑range conditions, calibration, bump tests, power cycles and TWA. TWA and peak exposure review functions support tracking of toxic exposure over time and provide traceability when reviewing incidents or verifying safe working practices.

Bump test and calibration reminders help maintain accuracy and support compliance with internal procedures or external standards. Active user tracking and user selection features link events and exposure data to individual personnel, aiding responsibility assignment and supporting fleet management. Compatibility with Crowcon Connect enables integration into digital fleet and data management workflows where required.

Crowcon Gas-Pro supports deployment across multiple industries and regions. Hazardous area approvals and marine approvals, including models aligned with the Marine Equipment Directive, make it suitable for both onshore and offshore applications. Compliance with key electronic standards, including EMC requirements, underpins stable performance in electrically noisy environments.

Multiple pre-configured gas combinations in pumped and non-pumped versions simplify selection for common tasks. The standard LEL channel is calibrated to methane, with the option to specify an alternative target gas where appropriate, and pellistor sensor options are available for combustible gas detection. Optional dual IR technology provides low-maintenance, fast-response measurement for flammable gas and CO2 in certain configurations, helping to reduce routine servicing requirements.

A wide accessory range allows one detector type to support many different tasks. Sampling tubing, water traps, drop lines and probes adapt Gas-Pro for remote sampling, tank testing or wet environments, while charger cradles and multi-region power solutions assist global roll-outs. Authorised service centres provide maintenance and calibration support, and TK units are easily identified by their black housings, helping fleet managers distinguish specialist detectors at a glance.
