Description

RAE Systems ToxiRAE Pro LEL is a personal %LEL monitor for Zone 0 areas, adding wireless visibility and man-down protection.

RAE Systems ToxiRAE Pro LEL is a compact, personal monitor for combustible gases and vapours, giving individual workers continuous %LEL readings directly on the body. It supports fast detection, powerful five-way local and remote alarms, and integrated man-down functionality to help prevent explosive incidents and improve emergency response. With rugged IP65 construction, extensive datalogging, wireless connectivity to Honeywell safety platforms, and straightforward maintenance, it supports consistent combustible gas safety across day-to-day operations, shutdowns, confined space entries, and emergency deployments.

AT A GLANCE

  • Dedicated %LEL personal monitoring: Single-gas combustible detector with extensive on-board correction factors for a wide range of vapours.
  • Connected worker safety: Wireless networking, man-down alarm, and five-way local/remote alerts for faster incident visibility and response.
  • Rugged and worker-friendly: Lightweight, IP65-rated housing, backlit display, and simple two-button operation for harsh, confined, or low-light areas.
  • Efficient maintenance and reporting: Automatic bump testing and calibration with AutoRAE 2, plus continuous datalogging and PC integration for records.

Overview of RAE Systems ToxiRAE Pro LEL

Real-Time %LEL Readings on Every Worker

RAE Systems ToxiRAE Pro LEL provides continuous personal monitoring of combustible gases and vapours from 0–100% of the lower explosive limit. It displays readings as %LEL for a selected compound and uses one of the most extensive on-board gas libraries in its class, with numerous correction factors preloaded. This single-gas focus simplifies training and day-to-day use, while still supporting accurate decision-making in hot work, confined space entry, and emergency response.

The large graphical LCD with white LED backlighting shows real-time gas concentration alongside battery status, datalogging and wireless indicators, reception quality, and exposure metrics such as peak, STEL, and TWA. Backlighting and alarm indicators can be triggered automatically in alarm or via a button press, supporting clear visibility in low light, confined spaces, and complex industrial layouts.

Alarms and Wireless Connectivity for Faster Intervention

The detector is designed to cut through high-noise, high-activity worksites. A five-way alarm system combines a loud audible alarm of approximately 95 dB at 30 cm, bright flashing red LEDs, clear on-screen messages, and a strong vibration alarm to reach workers even when wearing hearing protection or working near heavy machinery. An integrated man-down alarm monitors immobility and raises alerts if a worker becomes unresponsive, helping teams act quickly in potentially explosive or oxygen-deficient conditions.

Wireless connectivity extends protection beyond the individual. Using mesh networking and licence-free ISM bands, the ToxiRAE Pro LEL can transmit live gas readings and alarm status to central command, routers, or host systems, with typical ranges suited to industrial plants and field deployments. It integrates with real-time monitoring platforms such as Honeywell ProRAE Guardian and Safety Suite, enabling safety personnel to track multiple workers, identify developing threats, and coordinate response from a single view. For sites where wireless is not required, non‑wireless datalogging variants are available, factory-configured to match budget and infrastructure constraints.

Built for Harsh, Hazardous Environments

Rugged, water-, dust-, and shock-resistant construction with an IP65 ingress protection rating supports use in demanding industrial environments, including wet, dirty, or abrasive locations. The compact form factor and lightweight build clip easily to workwear or PPE, while simple two-button operation supports confident use with gloved hands.

A wide operating temperature range and high humidity tolerance make the instrument suitable for hot process areas, cold outdoor tasks, and variable field conditions. It is approved for hazardous areas and classified for use in Zone 0/Category 1 gas atmospheres, supporting use in high-risk explosive environments across oil and gas, construction, steel mills, foundries, pharmaceuticals, utilities, water and wastewater treatment, confined space work, and emergency response, including urban search and rescue.

Low-Overhead Maintenance and Fleet Management

The ToxiRAE Pro LEL is designed to maximise uptime. A replaceable catalytic bead LEL sensor, replaceable filter, and rechargeable lithium-ion battery support long-term serviceability. Typical runtime is around 12 hours, with recharge in less than four hours via the supplied cradle, helping fleets cover full shifts and turn instruments around quickly between uses. Multi-year warranty coverage on non-consumable components, along with specified sensor and battery support, underpins predictable lifecycle planning.

When paired with the AutoRAE 2 automated test and calibration system, the detector supports fully automatic bump testing and calibration, reducing manual workload and promoting consistent compliance across large instrument fleets. Manual calibration is also supported for sites that prefer traditional workflows or need field flexibility.

Datalogging, Traceability, and System Integration

Continuous datalogging is standard, with capacity for approximately three months of data at one-minute intervals. The user-configurable logging interval, ranging from short to longer sampling periods, allows resolution to be tailored to specific tasks, projects, or reporting requirements. Data can be downloaded via the charging and PC communication cradle or via the AutoRAE 2 system, supporting incident investigation, exposure tracking, and internal or regulatory documentation.

Each instrument is supplied as a complete kit, including the monitor with sensor installed, alligator clip, protective rubber boot, rechargeable battery, charging and PC communication cradle, PC cable, AC adapter, calibration adapters, and Quick Start Guide. CD-based documentation, ProRAE Studio II configuration and data management software, calibration card, quality certificate, and warranty/registration card are included to support commissioning, traceability, and ongoing management. Optional integration with cloud or enterprise safety software, such as Honeywell Safety Suite, helps organisations standardise combustible gas monitoring, centralise records, and manage assets across permanent operations and short-term projects or hire fleets.
