Hydrogen fluoride (HF) is a toxic, corrosive, and colourless gas with a sharp odour, widely used in glass etching, petrochemicals, aluminium refining, and electronics manufacturing. On contact with moisture, HF forms hydrofluoric acid, which penetrates deeply into tissue and can cause severe burns, bone damage, and systemic toxicity. Inhalation at even low concentrations may result in serious respiratory injury.
