Uniphos Kwiksense Lite is engineered as a practical fixed gas detection solution for safety-critical industries. Pre-calibrated, plug-and-play sensors are supplied for the selected gas, allowing fast installation and straightforward commissioning. When process conditions change or a different gas needs to be monitored at a location, the operator can replace only the sensor with another pre-calibrated element. There is no requirement for field calibration at the point of changeover, which reduces downtime, avoids lengthy work interruptions and supports efficient planning of maintenance windows.

This interchangeable sensor approach allows standardisation on one detector type across mixed applications, reducing spares inventory, simplifying training and making it easier to repurpose monitoring points as plant layouts or product portfolios evolve.

Uniphos Kwiksense Lite has been designed with straightforward integration into existing safety systems in mind. The detector provides an industry-standard 4–20 mA analogue output with suitable load resistance for direct connection to common control panels, PLCs, DCS and third-party gas monitoring systems. A three-wire connection for supply, signal and ground keeps wiring simple and supports rapid field installation.

Multiple ½” NPT cable entries offer flexibility in cable routing and gland choice, supporting a range of site cabling practices. The fixed single-gas configuration removes the complexity of multi-gas instruments at each point, simplifying documentation, loop checks and ongoing management. The result is a detector that can be deployed quickly on new projects or added easily to existing networks where additional measurement points are needed.

At the core of the Kwiksense Lite is a microcontroller-based platform that supports non-intrusive calibration and configuration using a magnetic wand. Personnel can adjust settings and carry out calibration activities without opening the explosion-proof enclosure, helping maintain integrity in hazardous zones and reducing the need for hot work permits or extended shutdowns.

An 8×2 OLED display provides clear local indication of gas concentration and device status, while tri-colour LED indicators offer quick visual confirmation of normal operation, fault or alarm conditions from a distance. Two user-settable alarm levels allow tailoring of warning and trip points to site standards. An optional potential-free relay contact can drive external sounders, beacons or simple process interlocks where local action is required.

The diffusion sampling design removes pumps and associated moving parts, reducing wear and simplifying service. Combined with low power consumption and the virtually maintenance-free nature of the transmitter electronics, this helps lower operational costs, particularly on large sites with many detection points.

Kwiksense Lite supports monitoring of flammable gases and vapours, key toxic industrial gases, oxygen for deficiency or enrichment protection, VOCs including benzene-specific options, and carbon dioxide across various concentration ranges.
