The RAE Systems MultiRAE Lite is a wireless, portable multi-gas detector that monitors up to six gases simultaneously for personal protection and leak detection in demanding industrial environments. Its highly configurable platform supports a wide choice of intelligent, interchangeable sensors, alongside pumped and diffusion variants, to cover diverse processes and applications. Overview of RAE Systems MultiRAE Lite

Comprehensive Multi-Gas Protection on a Single Platform

 

The RAE Systems MultiRAE Lite provides safety teams with a single, adaptable detector for complex gas hazards. It can monitor up to six gases at once, including VOCs, combustible gases (LEL), a wide range of toxic gases, CO2, and oxygen deficiency or enrichment. With one of the broadest sensor selections in its class and extensive onboard gas libraries within the MultiRAE family, it supports both common four-gas configurations and specialised combinations for challenging chemical environments.

Interchangeable, field-replaceable intelligent sensors store their own calibration data, enabling rapid sensor swaps in the field without specialist tools. This allows organisations to standardise on one detector platform, reduce spares inventory, and adapt to changing processes or regulations without replacing complete instruments.

Adaptable Pumped or Diffusion Operation

 

The MultiRAE Lite is available in both pumped and diffusion versions to match different tasks and workflows. Pumped models with built-in sampling pumps and strong sample draw are suited to pre-entry and remote sampling of confined spaces, tanks, pits, and other hard-to-reach locations, with automatic low-flow shutoff to protect the pump and ensure measurement integrity. Diffusion models provide lighter, simpler personal monitoring for routine surveys and general area checks where a pump is not required.

Monitor-only and confined space kits, together with probes, tubing, hydrophobic filters, and hard transport cases, support turnkey deployment for shutdowns, turnaround activities, field investigations, and mobile crews. This flexibility allows a consistent detector platform to be used across confined space entry, leak survey, environmental remediation, fire overhaul, and urban search and rescue applications.

Intelligent Sensors, Data, and Maintenance Efficiency

 

Intelligent sensors, a user-replaceable pump, and plug-and-play rechargeable batteries are designed to minimise downtime and simplify maintenance. Automatic bump testing and calibration, particularly when used with AutoRAE 2 automated test and calibration systems, enables consistent, hands-free testing across a fleet and supports compliance with site procedures.

Extensive datalogging capability allows continuous recording of gas concentrations with user-configurable logging intervals. The detector records real-time values alongside STEL, TWA, peak, and minimum readings, with PID correction factors where applicable, creating a robust audit trail for investigations, exposure assessment, and regulatory reporting. Data download, configuration, and firmware updates are handled via desktop charging and PC communication cradles, travel chargers, or AutoRAE 2, helping keep records centralised and up to date.

Connected Safety and Centralised Monitoring

 

Real-time wireless connectivity transforms the MultiRAE Lite from a standalone detector into a connected safety node. Live gas readings, alarm states, and Man Down events can be transmitted to remote safety teams or command centres, allowing faster, better-informed decisions when conditions change. Optional RF modems, mesh networking, and Wi-Fi, operating in recognised license-free bands with FCC and CE approvals, support flexible coverage on complex sites.

Integration with Honeywell Sotera™ Express / SafetySuite, ProRAE Studio II, ProRAE Guardian, EchoView Host, and compatible systems such as Motorola MOTOTRBO enables fleet management, live monitoring, and data analysis across single or multiple locations. Organisations can select wireless or non-wireless versions to match infrastructure, regulatory requirements, and budget, then scale connectivity as needs evolve.

Unmistakable Alarms and Lone-Worker Protection

 

The MultiRAE Lite uses a five-way alarm system to ensure hazardous conditions are clearly communicated. A 95 dB audible alarm (at 30 cm), bright red flashing LEDs, strong vibration, and local and remote wireless alarms work together to cut through noise and poor visibility. The integrated Man Down Alarm, with pre-alarm and real-time remote notification when a worker is motionless, enhances protection for lone workers and confined space entrants by helping teams locate and assist affected personnel quickly.

Rugged Design, Certifications, and Power Flexibility

 

Rugged construction with dust and water ingress protection supports reliable use in harsh indoor and outdoor conditions, while compliance with relevant EMC and performance standards underpins measurement stability in demanding environments. Extensive global hazardous area certifications, including for use in classified locations and across key regions, make the MultiRAE Lite suitable for industries such as oil and gas, chemicals, pharmaceuticals, food and beverage, wastewater treatment, telecommunications, government, and healthcare.

Multiple power options, including standard and extended-duration Li-ion rechargeable batteries plus an AA alkaline adapter, deliver long run-times to cover full shifts and extended incidents. Compact, ergonomic design with a protective rubber boot, belt clip, and robust accessories allows comfortable carrying during intensive field work, helping maintain continuous coverage without adding unnecessary operator burden.

Operator-Friendly Interface and Global Deployment

 

A large monochrome graphical LCD with backlighting and automatic screen flip provides clear visibility in low light and awkward orientations. An icon-driven interface and three-button keypad enable straightforward operation, even with gloved hands, reducing training time and the likelihood of user error. Multi-language capability across a broad set of languages allows a single instrument platform to support global operations and multilingual teams.

Visual compliance indicators and status icons for battery state, wireless connection, datalogging, and Man Down Alarm make it easy to confirm that the detector is ready for use before entering hazardous areas. Supplied as a complete system, with optional confined space and calibration kits, the RAE Systems MultiRAE Lite supports end-to-end gas detection programmes that improve regulatory compliance, help reduce facility downtime, and enhance worker and environmental protection.
