Hydrogen (H₂) is a colourless, odourless, and highly flammable gas used extensively in refining, electronics, chemical production, and emerging hydrogen energy systems. Because hydrogen is lighter than air and diffuses rapidly, leaks are difficult to detect without monitoring. The gas forms explosive mixtures with air over a wide concentration range, and in confined spaces, can create severe fire and explosion hazards.
